She is also an experienced advisor in the area of product recalls, having represented clients before the Consumer Product Safety Commission, National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and the U.S. Coast Guard. In this area, she is skilled in advising clients in the assessment and management of a product recall, recognizing the sensitivity in protecting a brand and consumers alike, evaluating internal practices and procedures related to recall preparedness, and working to minimize the impact of a recall on all involved.

Kathryn believes an attorney should hold values that require one to be respectful, loving and caring. Some people do not believe these are characteristics of successful litigators. My 20 years of litigation experience have taught me that honey is often a more reliable tool than vinegar and that I am at my most effective for my clients in and out of the courtroom, when I am being true to who I am.

  • CITY OF COUNTRYSIDE AND CYP PREVAIL IN SEVEN YEAR PENSION SPIKE LITIGATION

After seven years of litigation our client, the City of Countryside, has successfully put an end to an illegal police pension spike, saving Countryside taxpayers many millions of dollars. The Illinois Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal of the trial court and appellate court rulings in Countryside's favor, and yesterday the trial Judge, Neil Cohen, issued an Order officially closing the case. Judge Cohen introduced our partner, Kathryn Thomas, to the entire courtroom and said that she obtained one of only two Summary Judgment rulings he issued in 2018. He said that Kathryn "just did everything right."
